Yes but you may also want to put them on a backup disc. Just in case something happens to the website.

Yes they will stay on the internet after you upload them, even if you delete the originals from your personal computer. But if you have a gigabyte of space on your hard drive -- and if you aren't using most of that space -- why not keep the photos on your computer as a backup?

Do any of these pictures show you in a state of undress, such as Miss America's online photos? Maybe you should keep them on your computer instead of online. Or at least share with us the address of your online pics. :)

You could make a backup but you don't have to. I wouldn't use Flickr- unless you have a paid account, it will only display the most recent 200 pics. It won't get rid of the rest, but you'll have to search through your archives to get to them. I would use Photobucket or something similar, which doesn't have that kind of limit.

You can upload your photos to any online service and then delete them from your computer and they'll still be online. The online services store them in their own database.

The advantages of backing up your stuff onto an external hard drive are that these online services reduce the size and quality of the images to make them optimal for online display. If you ever want to download your picture back onto your computer and make prints, it will not be the original file. The resolution will be lower and you won't get any high quality prints out of that.

Take my ADVICE ...

Before deleting them from your pc .. take a backup copy on a CD or a DVD .. will not cost u much .. and will solve your problem ..

u will never know what would happen to your pics online ..

Yes, copies would then reside on the site.

You can post them and then delete them. You run the risk, however, of not being in control of them. What if Flickr (or any of the others) go out of business? What if they want to start charing you?

If you want to upload that many, I do think you will be charged if you use Flickr. You'll need a Pro account which is $24.95 a year. See their site for more information.

Someone suggested backing them up to CD or DVD which is good. Also, you can get these mega external hard drives like 500GB for $180 and store them there. External hard drives are easy to use and can be somewhat portable.

This is what I do: copy all of them unto cheap (but workable) C.D.'s from Wal*Mart or whatever, tehn post them onto Flickr. If all my pictures on my C.D.'s were loaded unto my computer, I'm sure I'd have an easy 1,000. Well anyway, pictures DO take a lot of space and putting them on C.D's really helps. Good luck.

Yes, they will stay on. But I would not totally delete them off of your competer cause you can't get them back from Flickr. I would put them on a disc or floppy or even an old computer, but a disc or floppy would be best. Just so you have them and won't risk losing them.

no you don't have to but if something happens on fliker and your photos get deleted your out of luck! heres some suggestions, test a few and see if it works secondly once there on your site drag the images to the place where you type in URLS and hopefully it will take you to a "website" with just your photo and a url. if it works and you like the photo bookmark the website that way you can put it back on your comp if you ever want to and it doesn't need flicker!

hey... I like using picasa... if you download the picasa tool you can have it scan your computer for all pic's and seporates by date, and you create a file, and dump them all in the file and it'll upload it all to your picasa page... you can see my page... I just added some short video's to my photo collection yesterday. =) if you get stuck feel free to e-mail me

http://picasaweb.google.com/magnetic.gaze

as well as having them all online, I think you should burn a cd or make some sort of back up of your pic's... it's a very wise idea.. if you can't burn anything get an external usb drive and throw them all on there.. =)

well....yeh...you could put more than 1000s of pics in flickr.....

just deleted from your computer...

bcuz if it stays there....it will make your computer get slower and like what you said...that it takes your computers memory....

so just put em in flickr...or find another website same as flickr....

theres another way...if you have any empty CDs....or DVDs...you should put em all there...

its safe and it wont get deleted like websites and all that ...you know..

so if you dont have any empty CDs or DVDs..you should buy sum...

5 CDs..for only $5:99.....

so...its your choice ; )

have fun ; )
